VIVA GEORGE 2008 AND MORE JOE'S SHOWS!

I have been going though a stockpile of tapes and found some real gems I never uploaded.  Here is a video of the first time I performed in front of people in VIVA GEORGE.  This was essentially the start of Koalacaust and much of this song was later turned into the track "The Woods".  Will I post more videos?  Don't know, but for now enjoy feeling like you are teenager back in the late 00's.

Wild Moth Music Video

So I haven't been recording many shows recently because I've been real busy and the shows I do go to I usually want to just get wasted and party, that being said I do have this video.  I asked my good buds in Wild Moth if I could make a video for them and of course they had no choice but to say yes.  This has been my little bedroom project for a while and every now and then I would just work on it when I had free time.  The new Wild Moth stuff is real tight and it was hard to make something as sick as those jams so I hope everyone likes it.  Trying to do way more videos for bands so hit me up if your into it.

Joyce Manor - Murder City Devils cover

Here is a video from a while back of Joyce Manor playing their Murder City Devils cover of "Midnight Service at the Mutter Museum", which you can find on their split with Oakland's Big Kids.  They played with Wild Moth and Dimples and it was a really fun night.  This video is lots of fun because you get to really see Matt, the bassist, going off.  So enjoy!

Dad Punchers 2nd Show

Elliot Babin, the drummer of Touche Amore, is venturing into new territory.  He recently recorded a few songs where he plays every instrument and sings and has since decided to make these songs a reality.  It would be easy to go into how this is undoubtedly a super group and each one of the people that play in this band have done so much, but this isn't about what they have done, it is about what they are doing.  Instead just sit back, listen and enjoy what is undoubtedly the birth of a great band.

Tiny Lungs playing "The Devil Who Painted The Wagon Red"

Tiny Lungs have been around for a little while now although they do not play as much as I wish they did, however if you do happen to see these guys on a flier for a show you are in for a good time.  They have a real solid sound that they have developed over two EP's and a single that they released.  This song is on one of the sides of their single and really pulls at the heart strings.  Get the jams below, rock out, and find a show they are playing and you won't regret it.

Merchandise Playing "School Yard"

Merchandise came through town last weekend and I got to see them last Friday and Saturday with Wild Moth.  This band is a bizarre mix of many things but it works.  Sort of an ambient dream pop, Merchandise play a set that is a very fun experience.  They just came out with a new record Childeren Of Desire which is a really great album that is growing on me with every listen.  The topper on the cake for me is their guitarist is David Vassalotti, who has an incredible solo project which you can hear a song from in my 3rd Mix Tape.  Enjoy the video and try and catch these boys while they are on tour.

Merry Christmas at McWorld

Last night I went to a show in LA that I was pleasantly surprised was at McWorld, an art space and venue that closed a year or two ago.  I guess the space re-opened and is back in action.  Merry Christmas played, who I had heard of a long time ago and was way overdue in seeing live.  They played a really great set and the switching back and forth between guitarists doing vocals kept the songs real fresh. The song is "Teenage Jackie" from their EP "Various And A Sundry" but check out all their songs, they're worth it.

Awol Land of Opportunity

Ok, so usually I only post sort of punk stuff on this site but I am making an exception for this.  I have been trying to do music videos for a while but it is hard to get everyone on the same page and free up the time for it.  This video is real simple, but the point is to show y'all that music videos are sick and to make you hit me up if you want one.  So enjoy the vid and if ya like it check Awol's link below.

Shoppers

Shoppers just came through SF and killed it at their show.  They play ambient punk with just enough drive coming through to really get you going.  I would say they are of those bands that sounds much better live than recorded so if you are into the recordings you should definitely try and catch their set when they come to your town.

Summer Vacation playing Don't Panic

Summer Vacation just came up to the bay and played a kick ass show.  They just came out with a killer album called Condition that is really incredible.  I've seen these dudes play a lot and one of the best things ever is screaming the words to every one of their songs.

Heavy Flow playing "Head is a Hive"

Heavy Flow is a band from Santa Barbara that popped up recently.  The band features members of Water Color Paintings and Girl Band.  This band is much darker than any of the previous members projects but the harmonies and plucky guitar translate well into this genre.  This also happens to be the first show I have shot with my new camera so enjoy the lush picture.

Beau Navire

Shot this with my friend Ramez at Sub-Mission.  Ramez threw this together the other night and it turned out quite lovely.  This was the last song in their set at the Touche Amore show earlier this month and damn did they end with a bang.  Basically watch and you'll get it but lets just say that the bass was in desperate need of new strings after this.

Wild Moth

 

Wild Moth is a new band that just popped up in San Francisco not to long ago, they play driving, loud, and noisy punk music.   They have a 5 song EP coming out very soon that is sure to knock the socks off of everyone.  Keep an eye on these dudes for sure.

Cool Ghouls

I have been meaning to put up this video for quite a while now.  Cool Ghouls are a rock band that has a sort of classic feel to them but as soon as you think you have them pegged they will start ripping it so hard.  This video is from before the Summer so they had a different drummer but Cool Ghouls are still playing all over SF and killin it.

Joyce Manor playing Leather Jacket

Joyce Manor are a rockin' 4 piece from Long Beach/Torrence CA.  The best dudes and the best tunes.  I got this video over Summer at the last show at "The Cabin", a local house show venue that Joyce often played at.  Enjoy the video and go do yourself a favor and find out more about these guys.
